The first African-American graduate of Hendrix College, Linda received the first Martin
Luther King, Jr. scholarship from Hendrix for promoting understanding among the
races. A state representative, and a retired educator and chairperson of the Black
Caucus of the National Education Association, she is a member of the House Education
Committee and the House, Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development Committee.
She was named Distiguished Alumna of Hendrix in 2000. She earned a B.S. degree in
history and political science from Hendrix and a M.S. degree in education from Ouachita
Baptist University.
