Hendrix is a four-year residential college. As such, students desiring to appeal this rule to live off-campus in non-Hendrix-owned housing must apply each year by completing the 2022-2023 Residency Requirement Exemption Request Form.
This online form will be available after 5:00pm Central on February 1, 2022. Deadline for submission was March 1, 2022.
The appeal process for the Hendrix Residency Requirement Exemption is closed for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Residence halls are provided as a part of the educational program of the College in the belief that a residential community provides a more effective context for the type of education to which Hendrix is devoted. Students are encouraged to participate fully in the Hendrix campus living experience through involvement in residence hall activities, staff and student sponsored programs, hall governments, and daily informal interactions with fellow residents. The number and diversity of individuals living together in the residence halls intensifies the need for students to attain a good balance between individual rights and responsibilities.
Residence hall staff members are committed to helping residents create a positive and enriching living environment. Area Coordinators and Resident Assistants are available to provide advice and counsel as students adjust to residence hall life, develop socially, and become self-governing. Each residence hall has a hall council that represents the students and coordinates hall activities.
The residence halls provide a comfortable atmosphere for students to study, interact socially, and rest. It is in the residence halls where students share with and learn from one another. The exchange of ideas and information is an important aspect of the educational process. Here students meet new people, gain new ideas, and develop long-lasting friendships.
Please note that the Houses have cable
outlets in the upper living rooms only. All apartments have cable outlets in the living rooms only. The residence halls have cable
outlets in their designated TV rooms/lounges. Cable cannot be upgraded or added to other rooms. Cable
issues are handled by Facilities Management and can be reported here.
For digital televisions manufactured after 2007, no additional
equipment is necessary to receive Conway Corporation’s cable service. However,
in order to receive the digital signal, once the analog signal has been shut
off users will have to reprogram their pre-2007 televisions. For televisions
that receive cable service through a digital, HD or DVR box, no action is
needed. If you receive a cable signal to an analog TV, you will need to
contact Facilities Management to request that a
digital adapter be installed.
Wifi is available in all student residences. There are a few Ethernet connections here and there but they will soon be non-functioning and the campus will be Wifi only. Wifi issues are handled by Information Technology and can be reported here.
