French Major - Planning

The course planning advice here is limited to completing this major which is just one piece of the overall Hendrix College degree requirements.  For a full description of degree requirements see the Catalog.

Possible Degree Path – starting in the first year. The following is a typical major plan. This is not the only way forward. Please consult with your advisor to create your unique path.

Interm Comp. & Conv. II (FREN 215)

One 300-level FREN course with permission of instructor.

Junior

3-4 courses  at the 300- or 400-level

Senior

French Capstone/Adv Research (FREN 480, spring)

2-3 courses at the 300 or 400-level

Planning Recommendations:

It is strongly recommended that students wishing to major in French participate in the Hendrix-in-Tours summer program after they have completed the 200-level sequence.

Language majors considering graduate study are strongly encouraged to take at least the Basic Sequence, typically the 110 and 120 numbered courses, in another language.
