Olin C. Bailey Library

Circulation

All materials from the library are checked out at the circulation desk in the rotunda.  A Hendrix ID, a University of Central Arkansas ID, an ArkLINK card, or a Hendrix off-campus borrower card may be used to check out materials.  Audio-visual materials (DVDs, CDs, headphones, etc.) are also checked out, for a week at a time, from the library's circulation desk.

The library has course reserves materials that are available for check-out from the circulation desk, although many reserves materials are also available online (search the catalog to check availability).  The library has a collection of bikes that may be checked out by the Hendrix community for three days at a time.  For Spring 2021, the library will be checking out second floor study carrels (24 hour notice required; reservations can be made a week in advance using this form).  The circulation desk phone number is (501) 450-1303.

Loan Periods

Books are lent to students for the duration of a semester, or the summer.  Books are lent to faculty for a longer period.  Print periodicals are lent with permission of library staff.  Bikes are checked out for three days and may be renewed once, but not by phone or email.  DVDs and CDs that are not on reserve are checked out for seven days at a time and can be renewed once.  Study carrels on the second floor of the library can be checked out for two hour periods.

Keep track of your checked out items by logging in through the "Sign In" function in the catalog.

Fines

Overdue fines are not charged for stack books.  When an item is more than 30 days overdue, it is assumed to be lost.  The borrower is then billed for the lost item, usually $100 per book.  If the item is then returned in good condition, the bill is cancelled.  Fines ARE charged for reserves items that are overdue at a rate of 50 cents per hour with a maximum of $20.  If a student loses a helmet, key, or lock to a bike, the charge is $50.  If a student loses a bike, the charge is $350 (for bike and lock/key replacement).   Students will be charged overdue fines for bikes at the rate of $10 per day.
