Summer in Costa Rica

The Hendrix College summer in Costa Rica offers students the opportunity to engage in an intensive study of Latin American culture and environment.  Three classes will be offered: Tropical Biology, Peoples and Culture of Latin America, and Spanish Language (directed to the student’s level of proficiency).  Students and faculty will live in the Ecolodge, a small research station located in the rural farming community of San Luis high in the mountains of northern Costa Rica.  The station is adjacent to the Monteverde and Children’s Rainforest preserves and therefore provides easy access to magnificent cloud forest ecosystems.  The local community is deeply involved in the management of the Ecolodge, which allows students to interact closely with the local populace.
