What You Can Do to be READY for the Fall Recruiting Season 

The Fall Recruiting Season for internships and full-time employment may seem daunting, but if you start early and stay organized, you can be very successful! Your faculty members and the Career Services Team are here to help every step of the way. Let’s get started! 

Spring 

• Update your resume! Then make an appointment to receive feedback and guidance on your current resume. Remember, you may need to tweak this resume for each opportunity for which you apply. 

• Take a look at your social media accounts and make changes where needed. When a potential employer Googles you, what will they see? We have resources to help.
  

Spring/Summer 

• Brush up on your interview skills by checking out these resources. 
  
  
• Be familiar with the Hendrix Career Competencies—be able to describe experiences in which you have demonstrated these skills/qualities.  
  
  
• Meet with us in Career Services to talk through specific questions/answers and for a mock interview. The more opportunities you give yourself to practice, the more confident you will be going into the BIG interview! 

• Does your LinkedIn profile need work? We do LinkedIn Profile reviews!
  

• Think about professional dress for interviews. Career Services can help you think through what would be appropriate. If you need to add to your current wardrobe, we can help you find items within your budget. 

• The Career Services team is available throughout the summer! Give us a call or set up an appointment. We are here to help you! 

August through Fall 

• Take a deep breath and stay with it! Set aside time each day for internship/job-related tasks. 
  
  
• Check your ECBU TEAM at least once a week. You'll get up to date information about events and opportunities.
  
  

• READ YOUR EMAIL EVERY DAY. You will receive email from Career Services and your Faculty on a frequent basis. These are important!  Companies are actively pursuing Hendrix students, but the window of time to act can be very narrow.

• STAY ORGANIZED
  -Keep a spreadsheet of opportunities that interest you, deadlines, required application materials, contacts, etc.  
  -Utilize a reminder app on your phone  
  -Send a thank you note after an interview (bonus points if it is a handwritten note!)
  -Have an official transcript and unofficial transcript ready to go. Unofficial transcripts are available through CampusWeb. 
  
• Go to the networking events & information sessions!  

You’re not too late until the deadline has passed…but, getting an early start on these tasks will make the Fall Recruiting season more manageable and you more successful!
