B.1.b. Senior Leadership Team

The Senior Executive Vice President & General Counsel, and Dean of Advancement (Ellis Arnold) is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the College’s Advancement efforts, including development, alumni, parent and constituent relations, in order to support the College’s Mission and institutional priorities. The College’s Chaplain also reports to the Senior Executive Vice President. In addition, the Senior Executive Vice President is responsible for managing relations with government agencies. As General Counsel, the Senior Executive Vice President serves as the chief legal officer of the College, Secretary to the Board of Trustees, and provides advice and counsel to the College’s Board of Trustees, officers, faculty and staff on matters concerning or affecting the College and its interests. The Senior Executive Vice President also serves as CEO of The Village at Hendrix, LLC.

The Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost (Terri Bonebright) is responsible for personnel, programs, and offices in academic affairs and coordinates with other areas of the college to promote a strong educational experience for students and a good working environment for faculty and staff. To accomplish this, the Provost works with the faculty and its committees in formulating, recommending and implementing educational policies and programs. With the advice of the Area Chairs and Department Chairs, the Provost makes recommendations to the President about personnel issues, such as hiring new faculty and evaluating faculty for promotion and tenure. The Provost supervises the Registrar’s Office, all academic departments, Bailey Library, the Office of Advising and Academic Success, the Office of Career Services, the Odyssey Office, and other programs and offices under academic affairs.

The Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (Tom Siebenmorgen) is responsible for the financial affairs of the College. The CFO has direct responsibility for the permanent funds of the College and is the chief fiscal officer. The CFO supervises the financial operations of the College and requires such accounting of receipts and disbursements as will guarantee honest and efficient management of all funds. The Business and Finance Office is responsible for the purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials. The CFO supervises the maintenance of financial records and makes reports to the President, to officers, and to Committees of the Board as needed. The CFO also supervises the operations of the College’s offices of Physical Plant, Dining Services, Public Safety and the Business Office. The CFO also coordinates the relationship with the bookstore vendor.

The Vice President for Enrollment / Chief Information Officer (Sam Nichols) serves as the chief enrollment officer and provides leadership in the areas of enrollment planning, student recruitment, admission, and financial aid. The Vice President advises on financial aid policy and optimal use of state, federal, and institutional financial aid resources and actively participates in retention initiatives. The Vice President participates as an ex-officio member of the Committee on Enrollment and Financial Aid, a member of the Retention Council and serves as staff liaison to the Board of Trustee’s Committee on Enrollment and Marketing.  As CIO, leads the College’s informational and instructional technology division, Technology Services; The areas that report to the CIO: Information Technology, Academic Computing, Instructional and Media Technology, the Oathout Technology Center, the areas of the Library that relate to information systems and hardware, computing, and Administrative software systems. The staff under the CIO promotes access to scholarly resources, as well as campus computing, telecommunications and network infrastructure The CIO is active in consortial activities with the Associated Colleges of the South to bring essential resources to faculty members and students.

The Executive Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students (Jim Wiltgen), working with a team of professional student development staff, supervises the student life program of the College. The Student Affairs staff works closely with members of the faculty, especially the Student Life Committee. The Division of Student Affairs also works collaboratively with the Chaplain. The Executive Vice President for Student Affairs is an advisor to the Student Senate and works with the Enrollment and Student Life Committee of the Board of Trustees. Student Life includes the following areas: student housing facilities and residential life, student development and leadership programs, new student orientation, student activities and student organizations, multicultural student services, student outreach services, event scheduling and conference services, the leadership scholars program, the post office, information desk, conference services, student health services, and student conduct/discipline.

The Vice President for Human Resources (Vicki Lynn) is responsible for the overall operations of the Human Resources Department including recruitment, hiring practices, terminations, promotions, transfers, benefit administration, retirement administration and questions, salary surveys, HR policy and procedures, Title VII and Title IX claims, and other HR issues.

The Vice President for Marketing Communications (Rob O'Connor) manages the College brand, communications, marketing, and public relations activities. The Vice President and the Marketing Communications team support the President’s Office, Advancement and Enrollment areas, and other College programs through media relations, crisis communications, web and social media content, and major publications, such as Hendrix Magazine.

The Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff (Courtney Lee Corwin) manages presidential initiatives including strategic planning, branding, community engagement as well as special projects. These initiatives support the strategic priorities of the Board and involve working with internal and external constituencies. Other duties include working closely in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, the Senior Leadership Team, faculty, staff, and on initiatives and projects in all areas of the College.

The Interim Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion (Kesha Baoua) serves as the chief diversity officer (CDO) and leads the College's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The CDO provides leadership for strategic planning and programming that advances the diversity mission. Working collaboratively with the Board, other members of the Senior Leadership Team, students, faculty, staff, and alumni, the CDO works to foster an accepting and welcoming campus climate. The CDO engages campus stakeholders in developing efforts, including curricular and programming, to fulfill the diversity mission and participates in the processes for responding to campus bias incidents. The CDO is an ex-officio member of the Committee on Diversity Concerns, and serves as staff liaison to the Board of Trustee's committee on Diversity and Inclusion.

The Director of Athletics and Recreation (Amy Weaver) administers the 21 NCAA Division III athletic programs and provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for all aspects of the program. The DAR is responsible for fundraising, fiscal affairs, personnel, strategic planning, facilities, public relations, and general operations; and works closely with multiple internal and external constituencies, including direct reports, to advance the overall mission, vision, goals and objectives of Hendrix College.
