Social well-being is about cultivating relationships with
others that are supportive, meaningful, and provide one with a sense of true
connection. While it is important for to meet social needs by maintaining
personal relationships, it is also important to find meaning and agency within
a larger community in order to contribute to the well-being of others. Furthermore,
social and community well-being can be nurtured through accepting help from
others. Maintaining and improving social and community well-being requires an
awareness of the ways in which one’s well-being is integrally connected to the
well-being of their community.
Through pursuing social and community well-being, one can
cultivate support systems which can help them to cope with stress and maintain
physical and emotional health as well.
