Participation

Registration Process
To register for an intramural activity, a team sport captain or individual/dual sport participant must complete an entry form and return it to the Hendrix Recreational Sports office in the lobby of the WAC Center. Entry forms must be completed and returned by 5pm on the day of the registration deadline.

The team sport captain or individual/dual sport participant must then attend a captains meeting. These meetings will be held in Grove #2 and will cover topics such as Hendrix Recreational Sports policies, sport specific rules, and league structure. See the Captain’s Responsibilities and Team Member’s Responsibilities sections of this handbook for further details.

General Participation Rules
The following outlines the guidelines for participation in intramural activities.  Any appeals for the following guidelines must be made PRIOR to participation.  Participants MUST present one of the following at EACH activity:

  • Valid Hendrix ID
  • Alumni Association Membership card and picture ID
  • Hendrix Recreational Sports membership card and picture ID (Alumni)
  1. There is an open roster during regular season play, which allows individuals to play on multiple teams.  However, during playoffs, rosters will be locked at the set number and no additions may be added.

  2. Individuals may play on only one team in their division during playoffs (men’s/women’s league and/or co-rec league).  In order to be eligible for the team, the individual must have participated on the team during regular season play at least 3 times or the stated max for that sport.

  3. Teams representing a Residence Hall for points must consist of members of that Residence Hall. Some exceptions may apply and will be ruled upon by the Hendrix Recreational Sports staff. See the Point System section of this handbook for further details about Co-Rec teams and how team points are accumulated.

  4. Teams consisting of independents or commuter students may compete as the off campus team in any League and may compete for points. Intentions to compete for the House Cup must be indicated on the Registration form prior to league play. See the Point System Section of this handbook for further details.

  5. Individuals who are members of an officially recognized Hendrix Club Sport Team may play within their respective specialty. No more than two (2) members of a Hendrix Club Sport Team may play on the same team.

  6. Varsity squad members should obtain permission from their coach before participating in any intramural activity.

  7. No more than two (2) Alumni may play on the same team. See the Play Section of this handbook for more information about playoff eligibility.

Ineligible Player(s)
If a team plays or checks in an ineligible player, the game will be forfeited.  In the case of ineligible player participation, a protest may be filed at any time.  It does not have to be filed within 24-hours of the contest.  The Hendrix Campus Recreation Staff may forfeit a game in the case of an ineligible player, without the opposing team filing an official complaint.

If an ineligible player is found to have participated in an intramural sports contest, he/she and the members of that team may be suspended from intramurals for a designated period of time decided by the Hendrix Recreational Sports Staff.

Ineligible players include: individuals playing under an assumed name, playing without a valid Hendrix ID, individuals not meeting the eligibility requirements outlined in Section 2 paragraph A of this handbook.
