Fitness Class Descriptions

 

  • Pilates – Pilates is a form of exercise, developed by Joseph Pilates, which emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient, graceful movement.
  • Yoga – Yoga is a form of exercise that uses slow movements and stretching. It is an excellent class for increasing flexibility and balance. It is also good for relieving stress and relaxing.
  • Flow Yoga – This style of yoga focuses on the connection of breath with the movement into the postures. Based on the sun salutation, this style keeps you moving throughout the practice. The class ends with gentle floor stretches and relaxation. 
  • Kickboxing – Combines cardio activity and a toning segment that burns a ton of calories while also making it fun and entertaining! It a dynamic, high-energy class that utilizes moves from karate, Muay Thai and western boxing.
  • Indoor Cycling – Indoor cycling, as an organized activity, is a form of exercise with classes focused on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity (race days) and recovery, that involve using a special stationary exercise bicycle with a weighted flywheel in a classroom setting.
  • Self Defense – Many styles of martial arts are practiced for self-defense, or include self-defense techniques. Some styles train primarily for self-defense, while other martial/combat sports can be effectively applied for self-defense.
  • Swim & Stay Fit – Swim & Stay Fit Classes are designed to assist those who would like to add swimming to their weekly fitness regimen.
  • Forever Fit – Forever Fit seeks to improve the physical fitness of all individuals by working through functional movements, which are low-intensity and achievable.  A great class for seniors!
  • Warrior Workouts – Focuses on high intensity workouts that combines strength training and cardiovascular work to maximize your fitness results. Various workouts will be performed including kickboxing, HIIT, tabata exercises, and more.
  • Core and Stretch – During this class individuals will get a full body stretch using movements that will increase flexibility, decrease muscle tension, focus on core strength of lower back and abdominal muscles, and help improve muscular balance. 
  • Tighten & Tone – A fun class that uses upbeat music to create an exciting environment that will help transform your body. This is a great way to avoid the weight room and to have other people help you get through the workout. Learn about technique and many different exercises that you can apply to your own exercise program.
  • PiYo – A dynamic strength class on an exercise mat! No equipment required for this unique class that is a fusion of Pilates and Yoga. A great body shaper and calorie burner!
  • Amphibi-Fit - This class combines out of the water exercises (squats, pushups, running), swimming, and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to give you a versatile workout that blasts all the major muscle groups. No workout will look the same. Get ready for some fast and furious fun.
  • Mindfulness Relaxation – This class will introduce simple meditation techniques, such as concentration and breath awareness to cultivate mindfulness. 
  • Weights in the WAC - Helps individuals learn the skill of strength training by using a wide variety of equipment and techniques. The class is structured for any ability level from a beginner, someone who has never lifted free weights before, or the athlete who has a regular weight lifting program.
  • Water Aerobics - Focuses on a full body workout without the normal stress on joints and bones that accompanies other exercise classes. It is a form of resistance training performed in shallow water.
