Criteria for Graduation with Departmental Distinction in Sociology:
- A 3.0 or above in overall grade point average
- A 3.5 or above in grade point average in departmental courses and other courses required for the sociology/anthropology major
- Superior performance on an independent study project directed by departmental faculty and/or superior performance in Advanced Research/Practicum (Soc/Anth 497)
- Favorable recommendation from departmental faculty
- Other criteria considered:
- performance on the senior thesis (emphasis in sociology) or the comprehensive examination (emphasis in anthropology)
- extracurricular activities, e.g., giving a presentation at the Arkansas Undergraduate Sociology and Anthropology Symposium or similar conference and active participation in the Sociology/Anthropology Club
- recommendations of non-departmental faculty
