        Planning Recommendations:

        • Students must complete ANTH 300 (Ethnographic Methods) and ANTH 365 (Social Theory) before the senior year. If students plan to study abroad their junior year, they must complete either or both ANTH 300 (Ethnographic Methods) and ANTH 365 (Social Theory) during their sophomore year.
        • Students completing the required co-op in the junior year should plan their methods course (ANTH 300 or SOCI 335) and ANTH 365 (Social Theory) accordingly — ideally completing them before or during the junior year.
        • Majors must take ANTH 497 (Advanced Research & Writing) during the fall semester of the senior year.

Capstone Comments: The senior thesis should build on a research paper already completed in a 300-level SOCI or ANTH course. Thus, it is important to consider course research topics that might be suitable for a thesis before the senior practicum.
