Fall Watson Informational Webinar
There will be an opportunity to attend an informational Watson webinar next week on Thursday, September 25th at 2:30 pm. This webinar will feature a recently returned fellow sharing his experience. Please register to find out more about the Watson! They will send a recording link even if you can't make the date and/or time.
Watson On-Campus Deadline is October 1
The on-campus deadline for seniors interested in applying for the Watson will be Wednesday, October 1 by midnight. Email your personal statement and proposal, as well as any ancillary materials (contact list) to Britt Anne Murphy. Each senior who submits a proposal will have a 15 minute interview with the Honors Committee in the following weeks. Ideally the personal statement and proposal will be between 1,200 and 1,500 words each, but we encourage applicants to send in their materials even if they still are in draft form!

Influenced Communication About Sexuality
New Zealand, Sweden, México, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Nepal
Conceptions of
sexuality are socially mediated by communication, which impacts the way sexual
information is made available to communities. How do attitudes towards sex
evolve in different cultural contexts? What role do cultural norms around
sexuality play in facilitating or hindering access to information and
resources? How do sexual health organizations navigate these challenges to
deliver resources to communities through sensitive communication? Collaborating
with sexual health professionals, educators, activists, researchers, and
grassroots leaders in New Zealand, Sweden, México, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Nepal
will enrich my understanding of communication as a crucial element in the
distribution of sexual resources and knowledge.
Watson Award Increases
The Watson award has increased $4,000 to be $40,000 ($50,000 for those traveling with a dependent).
