·       Senior Rep, Derek – buying a subscription from bookstore but the bookstore is in the VILLAGE! That is one long walk. Emailing and we are checking in options.  

o   New York Times delivered to doorsteps???  

·       Hardin Rep, Paul – by burrow more recycling containers!  

o   THEY are on ORDER!  

·       Lin, Sophomore Rep – More Fruit Variety for the CAF!  

o   Spicy chicken strips please come BACK! 

·       More pecans outside Martin please!

V. Committee Rep 

  •  Committee on Student Affairs: Dean Wiltgen and Karla C. Carney-Hall, PhD 
    • Shirttails and Campus Alcohol Policy 
      • GREAT SHIRTTAILS!!!!!!! 
      • Problems: Murphy House Tables damaged 4 tables because of the over crowding of the event. It is about $1200 worth of damage. Murphy wants it to be replaced and we are going to open the floor for people to come forward. So if you have information about the furniture please come forward.  
        • 12 panes of the Galloway style lights were damaged 
        • Someone else broken in the softball box and stole some items! This is not good.  
      • NO transports over the WEEKEND! That is great. Great improvement from toga. (: 
      • PROBLEM: open beer bottles! They give us lots of leniency, so don’t misuse it. If we have continuous disregard of the rule, there will be no cup rule. That is no fun. ): 
      • We like the cup policy but if people are going to continue to use bottles and cans, we will probably have to take cup policy away. We have to be responsible as a community. WE want EVERYONE to maintain control.  
      • WE CAN NOT WALK AROUND WITH OPEN CONTAINERS, AND please just THROW IT AWAY!!!!!! 
  • Special Committee on the Constitution: Derek Cash  
    • 2008-2009: We had a set of constitution and by-laws. 
    • 2009-2010 – the document was not passed on!  
    • Really there is no reason for us to ignore the changes we made in 2008-2009. We are going to look with fincom for the salary disparities and the option for one student to hold two paid positions.  
    • WE are going to submit the new one next week and reconcile it next week.  
    • More details to come next week.  
  • Environmental Concerns Committee with Emily and Katherine 
    • GREEN TEAM IS AWESOME! Recycled lots of stuff throughout freshmen orientation 
    • Meeting Mills C Tomorrow At 7:00 
    • We are having issues with glass recycling but Conway has some weird rules. They are looking into it and trying to resolve the issues.  
    • Facilities doesn’t want deal with glass because it is slightly dangerous and we don’t want anyone hurt.  
    • Reminder: Please make your event more ECC Friendly. We have plates and silverware! WE have workers that will come and help out!  
  • Media Committee with Hannah Sintek 
    • The PROFILE AND TROUBADOR applications due tomorrow.  
    • PICK UP YOUR TROUBADOR IF YOU WANT it!  
    • Aonian is starting publicity! YAY!  
    • Deerhunter ??? WE are getting a lot of questions about it and we are trying to figure all the problems and issues.  
    • Sending out email for at large Media committee members! GET READY!  

 

  • Multicultural Development Committee with Molly Miller 
    • Welcome Week event had a 40 people turn out.  
    • Elections through senate 2 weeks from today! File if you want to with Katherine Hunter.  
    • Next Event – BLOCK PARTY! October 2! Big and Awesome Event. Anybody interested in performing let Molly Miller know!  
  • Campus Kitty 
    • ???? 
  • Social Committee with Will Philips   
    • Welcome Week Event – It was MAGICIAN!  
    • Elections – file with Katherine Hunter! Contact Will if you have any questions!  
    • Faux Rush Week with FOAM PARTY! YEAHHHHHH! DON’T WORRY, GOT THE GOOD FOAM GUY!  
  • Volunteer Action Committee with Michaela Fraiser 
    • Tomorrow is the VOLUNTEER FAIR! Outside the SLTC 11-2.  
    • Next Tuesday is our KICKOFF Party! With Pizza!  
    • Weekly meetings start with Sunday at 6.  
    • Officer positions are still available.  
  • Academic Policy with Ruanda McFerren 
    • First AP meeting, and there currently 122 full time faculty! YAY!  
    • Freshmen class schedule stuff went well, but upperclassmen didn’t go so well. They are going to work on that, so it could be more smoothly in the future.  
    • A Committee is looking at the programming credits for graduating to make sure they are doing the job they are suppose to be. “Unto the whole person….” 
    • Sustainability major being developed is coming! It’s going to be great! (: 
    • Why labs don’t count as credits? Basically, we have restructure the whole academic structure and they are going to do that.  
    • Presidential Medal – there is no written down criteria for that. They are going to be working on that. Trying to make the process transparent and clear.  
  • Student and Academic Concerns Committee with Taylor and Ruanda 
    • Apartment Hall Councils 
      • This year when we paid room and board, we paid dorm dues within that. SAC is going to tackle issues.  
      • PICKING UP our HIGHWAY! No date yet!  
      • Senate Development! SAC and Torey will be working on it! YAY!  
  • Communications Committee with Emily Jones 
    • T-shirts on the way!  
  • Committee on Committees with Torey Hayward 
    • Oversight meetings will be continuing on this year!  
  • Executive Committee with Lydia Nash

        • Voted APPROVED!!! 
    • EXEC WAS SOOOO PROUD OF SHIRTTAILS AND WE ARE GOING TO GIFT THEM WITH DINNER.  
  • Financial Committee with Alexander Jones 
    • BIG ISSUE!!!! – campus organizations have yet to receive money but money should be getting out no later than September!!!! Just defecit spend. It will be fine.  
    • $6.93 Senate Account! YAY!  
    • Senate Salaries and Organizational Salaries need to go talk to Judy Sherrillll.  
    • Projected Student Activity is going to be higher than we thought!!!! YAY!  
    • FinCOM meeting at 5 Sunday!
