  • Kristy – biodegradable cups on their way?
  • James – library 11 PM study carrel noise, racial slurs.  He told staff, Public Safety called.  Please report stuff like this so it can go on record.
  • Jayce – changes to drug policy?  Dr. Hardin said no!
  • Drew – police confiscating beer at Ghost Roast from people with over 21-years of age bands.
    • BJ – police did walk through party – is that allowed? 
    • Dr. Hardin said that’s okay.  Police can’t come turn a blind eye.
    • Dr. Arms – not illegal.
    • Drew will contact Rick to get a better understanding with police.
  • Ryan asked if the thief has been caught?  Yes is the answer, but you should still be on your guard.  Caught someone matching the description, but still... Keep locking your doors; they could be back on the streets!

 

IV. Departmental Liaison Reports

  • Dylan – Dawn said nothing about breakfast.  Sandwiches are Thursday evenings, not a big enough hit at lunch – waste of resources.
  • Shelby – Rick about lights in Martin circle… They are working on it.

    • November 7, 2007 – discussion on Cultural Appropriation from 7-9 p.m.
  • Social Committee with Sam Jackson
    • SoCo 54 is Saturday from 10:15(?)-2:00 a.m.
  • Media Committee with Megan Wooley
    • Profile out on November 30, 2007 – interviews for Aonian staff underway.
  • Council on Residence Life with Robert Fureigh
  • Campus Kitty with Hina Mehta
  • Environmental Concerns Committee with Maggie McKinney
  • Academic Policy with Katie Pearce

    • Young Democrats requested $1,011.48 - $800 GRANTED
      • Motion to give $500 – Failed
      • Motion to table the discretionary request until next week – Failed

    • Student Congress requested $800 – $800 GRANTED
      • Motion to accept the proposal – Passed
    • Philosophy Club requested $250 - $250 GRANTED

    • International Club requested $2,600 - $2000 GRANTED
      • Motion to give $2000 to the club 8 ayes, 5 nays – Passed

    • Shirttail Serenade document presentation

  • Executive Committee with Will Green
    • $100 million dollars boost
    • Student Life Center approved – hopefully seeing some action next semester.
    • J.D. Thomson and Shlok are going to check the doors and figure out problems with them and motion sensors.
    • Focus groups for Shirttails (freshmen males, freshmen females, upperclassmen males, upperclassmen females) are going to examine/give opinions on:
      • Exploitation or hazing?
      • College values
      • Physical issues
    • Conducted by Dr. Wayland and others trained to lead the focus groups.
    • Dylan is going to meet soon for the Shirttails AND for the Senate retreat.

  • Voting for Veasey Senator is tonight.
