Group Campus Visits

Is your group ready to Experience Hendrix College?

Thank you for your interest in Hendrix College! We look forward to seeing you on campus and want to ensure you make the most of your Hendrix College Experience. If you plan to visit Hendrix with eight or more students, please review the following policies before requesting a visit. If you have any questions or concerns about scheduling your group visit, please contact Jenn McKenzie, Campus Visit Coordinator, at mckenziej@hendrix.edu or 800-277-9017.

Availability

Group visits are available Tuesday through Thursday with the exception of some blackout dates. We do not offer group visits on Saturdays or Sundays, nor do we offer groups visits during the months of December through April. We ask that you submit your preferred visit date as well as two alternate dates using the online group campus visit request form. We will do our best to accommodate your request; however, due to overlapping requests or staff limitations, we may not be able to schedule your visit on one of your requested dates.

Chaperones

All groups with students must provide one adult chaperone for every 10 students. Campus walks will be led by current Hendrix students, and chaperones are asked to accompany these walks. Hendrix reserves the right to cancel the campus walk if enough chaperones are not available.

Scheduling your group visit

We ask you to submit the online group campus visit request form at least two weeks in advance of your proposed visit day. The visit will be confirmed by the Office of Admission via an email that provides you with the date, time, and arrival location for your group visit. Groups who do not show for a scheduled visit or cancel within 24 hours of their visit day will be reviewed prior to future group visit requests.

Visit preparation

The Office of Admission has developed a short list of questions that will help get your group in the right mindset for its visit to Hendrix. We encourage you to review these questions with your group prior to its visit. Questions have also been provided for use in discussion with your group after its visit.

Your group will be doing a lot of walking during its time on campus. Campus visits are approximately 1-3 hours depending on the size and the requests of the group. Please encourage everyone in your group to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. We also encourage to you check the local weather a day or two prior to your visit to see if other items are needed, such as an umbrella or jacket.

If your group would like to eat lunch on campus in our cafeteria for a discounted cost of $8.00 per person, please make arrangements in advance with Jenn McKenzie, Campus Visit Coordinator. Checks should be made payable to the Hendrix College Office of Admission. You may also find a list of local restaurants here.

Conduct

We ask your group to respect Hendrix and its students, faculty, staff, and grounds. Failure to do so may result in an early conclusion to the campus visit and review upon future campus visit requests.

Group Visit Options

Before requesting a group visit, please review the options below to see what Hendrix can offer your group. We are not able to accommodate all groups, but we will do our best to provide a memorable Hendrix College Experience!

Visit options for students in 9th through 12th grades

We offer the following options for groups of high school students who are considering Hendrix during their college search:

  • An overview of Hendrix and the admission process with an admission counselor (approximately 30 minutes)
  • Campus walk with current Hendrix students (approximately 1-1.5 hours)
  • Lunch in the Hendrix cafeteria (must be approved in advance; see "Visit preparation" above)

Visit options for students in 8th grade and under

We are excited about your early interest in Hendrix! Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to offer guided campus walks for students in 8th grade or under. You are more than welcome to explore Hendrix on your own to find out a little about college life on our campus. We have provided links to our campus map and our children’s visit option for younger groups.
