Sunday
"Find your tribe": Experience one of our fun and eclectic student organizations.
Try your hand at baking with the Culinary Club; play a game of Ultimate Frisbee
with the Flying Squirrels; get on the air with KHDX; explore volunteer and service
opportunities. These and many more options await!
Taste one of our favorite campus meals: Breakfast for dinner (or "brinner" as
Hendrix students call it) is a long-time favorite. We'll kick off Embrace the Orange
with the meal that everyone loves. You'll be joined by Hendrix students who are
eager to talk about the ins and outs of life at Hendrix.
Take part in a Social Committee event: Your folks can head to their hotel for
the night and you can participate in a memorable night at an official Social Committee
gathering. Current students and future members of the Class of 2018 will join forces
to create fun that you'll never forget.
Monday
The Engaged Citizen begins!: The Engaged Citizen is a common core course taught
by a pair of Hendrix professors. "Can Art Change the World?" — "Images of Politics
and Society" — "Poverty and Public Institutions" These are some of the topics that
The Engaged Citizen will tackle as you start your Hendrix journey. Dr.
Jay Barth will lead the first ever lecture of The Engaged Citizen. If you
plan to be a student in the fall, you won't want to miss this!
A living timeline: Hear from students at each point of their Hendrix experience.
Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduates will describe every step of
the way. Orientation, study abroad, grad school — if you've got questions, they've
got answers (and stories along the way!)
Cafeteria Theme Days: Hendrix is famous for its award-winning cafeteria food
(and our adoptive-grandma cafeteria ladies!). We're also famous for Theme Days.
The cafeteria staff decorates the entire dining hall, wears costumes, and serves
food that fits the day. Embrace the Orange falls on "Rock-n-roll Day." You can't
miss the great food and the chance to jitterbug with Ms. Martha in the dining hall.
Seriously — you must see it to believe it!
Join the Class of 2018: We hope that when the dust has settled, you know in your
heart that Hendrix is the place for you. The admission team is on-hand
to officially welcome you to the ranks of the Class of 2018 and to answer all of
your questions about life at Hendrix!
