o     First Senior Night of the year – This Thursday from 9:00-close at ZAZA. Senior Gift will be announced. Email Jessica Lin or Daniel Williams for more information.

o     Academic Policy with LaRonda Mitchell

o     IB credits – There has been a change in the requirements to have an IB credit counted. If you believe that you should now get credit for an IB credit, take your transcript to Dr. David Sutherland.

o     New Minor proposed: Medical Humanities

o     Change in ADD policy – Proposal to change deadline to add class from the 11thday class to the 6th day of class. LaR will send you details of proposed change and Senators should invite their constituents to send in feedback.

§     Students need time to figure out what class is appropriate for them to be in.

·     Dean: This wouldn’t affect the drop period, just the add period.

§     Gabe: Compromise? Later deadline for dropping to a lower level class within same discipline, earlier deadline otherwise.

§     Daniel: Another compromise: Move deadline up – need instructor approval necessary after

o     Collegiate Center

o     Financial Committee with Clay Christian

o     Committee on Everything Awesome with Dean Jim Wiltgen and Dr. Karla Carney-Hall

o     Light walk postponed to next week.

o     Intruder at Front Street when door wasn’t locked. It’s good that you feel safe on campus, but please do lock your doors!

o     Atmosphere of college needs to be conscious of not drawing people we don’t want.

o     This is the time of the year when thefts increase, including backpack thefts in sunporch. Please be careful!

o     H-Alert has changed from an opt-in system to an opt-out system. It will be used only to alert students to important safety issues. You can opt-out if you really insist, but why would you?

o     Encourage student

o     Media Committee with Courtney Johnson (Bruce Layman, proxy)

o     This Sunday we will have our next Media Committee meeting, so send your comments our way!

o     Also, KHDX has sent out a survey for the spring concert. Even within the first few hours student participation has been high, so keep it up!

o     Environmental Concerns Committee with Emily Canon

o     No glass recycling at Village or Mill Street (Hendrix Corner). Spontaneous bins have been popping up – please don’t put your glass in them! They might not get emptied regularly or appropriately and that poses a safety hazard and antagonizes our housekeeping staff.

o     Multicultural Development Committee with Calvin Pun

o     Multicultural Expo went great!

§     Dean: Calvin and students who were involved deserve a lot of credit. It was very well received.

o     Campus Kitty with Malena Outhay

o     Social Committee with Will Phillips

o     SOCO 54!! Saturday November 19th!

o     Wristbands will be given out in the sunporch next week:

§     11am – 2pm Monday-Friday

§     5pm – 7pm Tuesday-Thursday

o     FRIDAY AT 2pm Wristbands will stop being given. All left over wristbands will be burned and the ashes will be burred in an undisclosed location. A.K.A you cannot get a wristband after this time.

o     T-shirts will be sold for $10

o     Guest wristbands will be $5 and each student may only get ONE! Students will pick up the wristband at the entrance of SoCo 54 between 9pm-11pm. NO MORE GUEST WRISTBANDS WILL BE GIVEN OUT AFTER THIS TIME!!! To pick up your guest band you and your guest must both be present and both you and your guest must have a valid picture ID. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

o     Enter on the South side of the SLTC back patio, exit on the North side.

o     Volunteer Action Committee with Rachel Robbins

o     VAC will be going to the Rice Depot in Little Rock this Saturday from 8-12. If you are interested in e-mail Katie at KirkpatrickKA@hendrix.edu. You must RSVP because there are a limited number of spots . It’s apparently barrels and barrels of fun.

o     The next REACT to FILM event will be The Last Mountain on Nov. 17th at 7pm in Mills A. It’s about coal mining and mountaintop removal.

o     We are currently collecting canned foods for The Turkey Project Thanksgiving baskets in the Miller Center, SLTC, dorms, and academic buildings. The list of needed foods can be found on Hendrix Today

o     Student and Academic Concerns Committee with Daniel Williams and LaRonda Mitchell 

o     Communications Committee with Adelia Shiffraw

o     Mike Flory and the caf staff is on board for a Senate lunch table, we're going to shoot for Thursday 12/1, so clear your calendars around lunch time (more info TBA)
