What is CARES funding for students?
As part of
the CARES Act approved by Congress on March 27, 2020, money was allocated to
Hendrix College for disbursement directly to students to cover one-time
expenses that were incurred due to disruptions to their educational pursuit
caused by the COVID-19 epidemic.
Who is eligible for CARES funding?
All students
who were enrolled at Hendrix on March 27 who filed or were eligible to file a
FAFSA.
How much money is available?
Hendrix
College received $528,000 to distribute directly to students.
Who will get this money?
Hendrix
College has decided to distribute a portion of the money ($288,000) to 410 of
our students with significant need as defined by information contained in their
FAFSA.
All students
received communication regarding applying for a grant. The application form can
be accessed at https://www.hendrix.edu/forms/hendrixcares.
How much money will I
get?
Hendrix
College will evaluate all requests for funding received by May 15 and will
attempt to meet as many requests as we are able.
Do I need to document my
expenses?
Currently according to
Department of Education regulations, documentation is not necessary to apply
for the grant. If you have expenses that fall into the “other” category in the form
linked above, you will need to document that portion of the request.
When
Hendrix evaluates your grant request, we may ask you to provide documentation
to substantiate requested amounts.
When will I receive my
money?
Checks
are being processed for the initial distribution to students and will be in the
mail by May 13 to the permanent address on file.
Students
requesting reimbursement through our form should expect a notification about
funding disbursement by May 21.
