Greetings,
The
Provost and all the academic affairs offices are working hard to answer
important questions about your courses and your grades in this very unusual
situation. Major decisions that have been made involving academics appear
in the list below. Please note that the College’s COVID-19 webpage is updated
frequently with information and links that contain answers to many of your
questions. The information in this email will be placed there as well.
- Quarter-Credit
Courses. All MUSA, PACT, TARA, and DANA courses have
ended as of last Friday and will not be continued online. All
students enrolled in these courses will receive the grade that was valid
last Friday.
- Last
Drop Date. The last day to drop a class with a grade of W
has been moved from April 3 to April 10.
- Spring
Registration. We have adopted a
slightly later and a longer spring registration period. Building your schedules and your registration
meetings with advisors will occur April 1 – 17. A revised
registration calendar is attached. You will receive an email from
Registrar Brenda Adams with
all the details. Your advisor will also be in contact electronically
after spring break.
- Internet
Access. Students who continue to have issues with
internet and computer access should
contact the IT Help Desk by email (helpdesk@hendrix.edu)
or telephone (501-450-1340). Associate Provost Leslie
Templeton will be working with students and
faculty on alternatives for those whose access problems continue.
- Online
Courses. Please consult the email to you from Information
Technology about what you need to do to get your computer ready.
Many faculty will continue to use email and Moodle. However, many
will be utilizing MS Teams software to communicate about classes and, in
some cases, advising. The email from IT explains how to set up Teams
on your computer or your smartphone. Your faculty will
be in touch by email to explain how your course will operate.
- Other
Academic Affairs Offices. Many offices have emailed or
added information to the COVID-19 webpage.
This includes the Odyssey Office, Career Services, and Bailey
Library. You will soon receive emails or have access to posted information
from other academic affairs offices around campus.
Please
let me know if you have questions. We are all in this together, and together
we will find ways forward.
Thanks,
David Sutherland '81
