Hendrix College Expands Recruiting Presence in NW Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. (July 14, 2021) – William Roberts, a 2019 graduate of Hendrix College, has been named the College’s first northwest Arkansas regional admission officer and an assistant director of admission.

“William has a proven record of success here in the Office of Admission, and we are thrilled that he has agreed to take on this newly created position based in the fastest growing area of the state,” said Ryan Cassell, vice president of enrollment and dean of admission for Hendrix. “Having him there on the ground in northwest Arkansas will increase our opportunities to build strong relationships with future students.”

A Conway native who graduated from Hendrix cum laude with a degree in psychology, Roberts has worked as an admission counselor for his alma mater since August 2019, serving as the key contact for prospective students living in northwest Arkansas and Colorado. He will retain those geographical areas of focus for recruiting as he relocates to the northwest Arkansas area this summer.

In this new position, which follows the model Hendrix has established with a regionally based admission representative in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Roberts will make visits to northwest Arkansas-area high schools, represent Hendrix at college fairs in the region, schedule local one-on-one chats with high school students, school counselors, families, and Hendrix alumni, and participate in other special events geared toward sharing the many possibilities Hendrix offers for future students.

The assistant director component of Roberts’s new role also includes a focus on church relations. He will connect with prospective students and families affiliated with United Methodist congregations in northwest Arkansas and beyond. The son of two United Methodist clergy, Roberts grew up being active in United Methodist Conference youth ministries statewide, and he maintains close ties to the denomination with which Hendrix has been affiliated since 1884.

“We’re grateful to have William take on this new role,” said Cassell. “His work is essential for cultivating future Hendrix students who will continue the College’s longstanding tradition of academic excellence.”
