Take a ‘Road Trip’ with the Hendrix College Wind Ensemble

CONWAY, Ark. (February 22, 2018) – Take a musical road trip across the United States by joining the Hendrix College Wind Ensemble for their spring concert. Under the direction of Hendrix Assistant Professor Music Dr. Gretchen Renshaw James, the Wind Ensemble will perform on Thursday, March 8, 2018, in Staples Auditorium. 

The Wind Ensemble will perform a wide variety of music by American composers who represent a cross-section of our diverse artistic culture. Featured composers include David Maslanka, William Grant Still, Warren Benson, Christopher Theofanidis, Steven Reineke, Aaron Copland, and Frank Ticheli. 

The program begins at 7:30 p.m., but don’t miss the special pre-concert performance by the Hendrix College Percussion Ensemble, which begins at 7:15 p.m. in the auditorium lobby. Led by Hendrix Adjunct Instructor of Percussion Mr. Evan Barr, the Percussion Ensemble will perform the famous work In C by American composer Terry Riley.
