CONWAY, Ark. (May 4, 2017) – Emily Hardick ’17 was recently accepted to the Teaching Assistant Program in France, managed by the
Centre international d'études péedagogiques (CIEP, an agency of the French Ministry of Education) for the 2017-2018 academic year.
A history and French major from Austin, Texas, Hardick will work in the Académie de Lille at the secondary school level (middle and/or high school).
"I'm thrilled to be working with TAPIF because I'll be able to share my love of language while still continuing my own education in French,” she said. “My whole academic outlook changed when I began studying French, and I hope to assist in that process of discovery for students of
English as well."
Hardick was the first Hendrix student to participate in a Fulbright Summer Institute, one of the most prestigious and selective summer scholarship programs operating world-wide. In summer 2015, she studied the effects of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade on the city of Bristol, England,
through the Fulbright Commission-University of Bristol Summer Institute for Young American Student Leaders, a four-week cultural and academic program for U.S. students held at the University of Bristol in the U.K.
"After TAPIF, I plan on pursuing an advanced degree in francophone history,” she said. “Luckily, the interdisciplinary nature of Hendrix's History and French Departments allowed me to explore my academic passion. I feel prepared not only for my year working with French students, but
also for my continued cross-cultural studies."
