CONWAY, Ark. (April 21, 2016) – Two Hendrix College seniors recently presented research papers at the fourth annual student research symposium at the University of Central Arkansas.
Gretchen McCarthy ’16, a French and Spanish major, presented her paper, titled "Writing absence in A Man's Place by Annie Ernaux.”
MacKenzie Theall ’16, an education and French major, presented her paper, titled "The Myth of Godot, Absence in French literature."
“Success in the Humanities depends not only on one's academic credentials, but also on one's contribution to his or her field of knowledge,” said Hendrix French professor Dr. Cathy Jellenik. “Mackenzie and Gretchen have taken tangible steps towards successful
careers by way of the dissemination of their research through this conference.”
“They left the security of their home institution and ventured out into a public forum where they were questioned by professors and students alike,” Jellenik added. “They rose to the occasion with poise and polish and performed beautifully.”
