2016 Hendrix College Alumni Association Awards

(February 15, 2016) – Jim Argue ’73, Barbara Jensen, Chelsey Bryant Krug ’01, Monica Beck Glover ’98, and Dr. Jason Beck ‘95 will be honored by the Hendrix College Alumni Association on Saturday April 16, at 10 a.m. in Worsham Hall in the Student Life and Technology Center.

The 2016 Alumni Association Award winners include:

  • Chelsey Bryant Krug ’01 – Outstanding Young Alumni Award
  • Monica Beck Glover ’98 and Dr. Jason Beck ’95 – Humanitarian Award
  • Jim Argue ’73 – Distinguished Alumnus Award
  • Barbara Jensen – James E. Major Service Award

Award Recipient Bios

Chelsey Bryant Krug ’01

Chelsey Bryant Krug graduated from Hendrix with a degree in Physics and went on to obtain a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Washington University in St Louis, as part of the 3-2 program via Hendrix. She began her post-graduate work at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) in 2002, working on the Student Dust Counter for the New Horizons spacecraft that encountered Pluto in 2015.  After earning her masters in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado, she accepted a full time position with Laboratory, and is currently the Production Manager for LASP. Her portfolio includes projects that have launched to study Mars, the Moon, the Sun, and the Earth's atmosphere.  Chelsey currently lives in Lafayette, Colorado with her husband, and their beloved pets Ellie and Gracie.

Monica Beck Glover ’98 and Dr. Jason Beck ’95

Monica Beck Glover graduated (cum laude with distinction) from Hendrix with a degree in Economics. She received a Juris Doctor (with honors) from the William H. Bowen School of Law and Masters in Business Administration from UALR.  Monica became the Director of Charitable Estate Planning at UAMS and then moved into a role as a clinic operations consultant for UAMS.  In 2008 Monica earned a Masters in Health Law from the University of Houston.    In 2008 and 2010 Monica and her husband Dr. Forrest Glover were blessed with a daughter, Ellis and a son, Grant.  In 2010 Monica, along with her brother Dr. Jason Beck, started Onsite Imaging Solutions, a mobile imaging company.   In 2014 Monica developed proprietary software called Mobile Intuition.   In 2015 Monica and Jason sold both Onsite Imaging and Mobile Intuition to a national private equity firm.  Monica is now working on investment opportunities including venture capital, private lending, real estate, and business development.

Dr. Jason Beck graduated from Hendrix College with a degree in Biology. He received a medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He then completed a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in neuroradiology. In 2006 Jason founded Arkansas Specialty Radiology which provides diagnostic imaging services at multiple specialty hospitals in central Arkansas. In 2010 Jason cofounded Onsite Imaging Solutions with his sister Monica which was sold in 2015 to a private equity firm. In addition to perusing new entrepreneurial opportunities, Jason continues his work as a private practice neuroradiologist and managing partner of Arkansas Specialty Radiology.

Jim Argue ’73

Jim Argue Jr. graduated from Hendrix College with a degree in history and political science. He then joined Commercial National Bank in Little Rock and was named Vice President of the bank in 1977. In 1981, Jim left the bank to become President of the United Methodist Foundation of Arkansas. Jim was elected to the Arkansas Legislature seven times and never lost an election.  He is recognized as one of the key architects in the state’s response to the 2002 Lake View Supreme Court decision, a ruling that led to major reforms and improvements in the state’s public education system. Jim is also the former chair of the Arkansas AIMS project, and has served as an active leader in the United Methodist Church at his local church, state and national levels. Jim is married to Elise Carey Argue. They have two adult daughters and two grandchildren who play a key role in their spare time.

Barbara Jensen

Barbara Jensen will receive the James E. Major Service Award at Alumni Weekend 2016. Jensen, who retired this year, has been a fixture on campus for nearly 35 years, serving students, faculty and staff in the Hendrix bookstore.
