CONWAY, Ark. (Jan. 25, 2015) — Hendrix College will host the 2016 John and Marjem Gill Annual Preaching Workshop on Monday, April 11, from 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., and Tuesday, April 12, from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Dr. Tom Long, the Bandy Professor of Preaching at Candler School of Theology, will lead the “Preaching in a Windstorm: Proclaiming the Gospel in a Spiritually Restless Age” workshop.
“We will explore the stresses and challenges of preaching in our spiritually restless and garmented culture today,” Long said. “We will look at creative ways that preachers can respond to this new environment and negotiate a new hearing for the gospel.”
Long will preach prior to the workshop at FUMC Little Rock on April 10, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. As part of the workshop, he will also preach a sermon titled, “A Matter of Depth,” during worship at Hendrix Greene Chapel on April 11, at 6:30 p.m.
Cost for the workshop is $60 if payment is received by April 4; $75 after April 4. Five scholarships are available from each district. For more information contact the District Superintendent for scholarship information.
