CONWAY, Ark.
(July 8, 2013) – Hendrix College was selected for inclusion in the Fiske Guide
to Colleges 2014 based on academic ratings, price category, and
quality of student life on campus.
Compiled by
former New York Times education
editor Edward B. Fiske, Fiske Guide to Colleges 2014 is a selective,
subjective, and systematic look at 300-plus colleges and universities in the U.S.,
Canada, and Great Britain. The guide examines a broad range of subjects,
including student body, academics, social life, financial aid, campus setting,
housing, food, and extracurricular activities.
Fiske served as New York Times education editor for 17
years and realized that college-bound students and their families needed better
information on which to base their educational choices. He is also the author
of the Fiske Guide to Getting into the
Right College.
"Hendrix
College is honored to be once again featured in one of the most prestigious and
most recognized college guides,” said Fred Baker, director of admission. “The
Fiske Guide to Colleges has long been held as the gold standard, and Hendrix
has valued the recognition bestowed upon the institution for many years.”
"The College's
inclusion in the 2014 Fiske Guide to Colleges is powerful affirmation of
Hendrix's distinctive approach to engaged learning, our strong liberal arts and
sciences curriculum, and our long-standing desire to make a Hendrix education
affordable," Baker added.
Founded in
1876, Hendrix College is a national leader in engaged liberal arts and sciences
education. For the fifth consecutive year, Hendrix was named one of the
country’s “Up and Coming” liberal arts colleges by U.S. News and World Report. Hendrix is featured in the 2012 edition
of the Princeton Review as one of the country’s best 377 colleges, the latest

to Colleges. Hendrix has been affiliated with the United Methodist
