CONWAY, Ark. (July 13, 2006) – Hendrix College has named Jeremy Lichtig, assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Susquehanna University, as its first men’s lacrosse coach.
Lichtig will join the Hendrix staff on Aug. 1 and will work during the 2006-2007 academic year recruiting student-athletes for the squad and making preparations to begin play in spring 2008.
“We were looking for an enthusiastic and aggressive coach to start our men’s lacrosse program, and we think Jeremy is good fit for that role,” said Hendrix Athletic Director Danny Powell. “He has a varied coaching background and has worked with some of the giants in the lacrosse world. He also has a good understanding of NCAA Division III and the type of student-athletes who can be successful in a rigorous academic environment,” Powell added.
Lichtig, a native of Baltimore, Md., has a bachelor of science degree from Auburn University and a master’s degree from Ohio University. As a student, he was named a 3rd Team All-American goalie and was twice named as the All-Southeastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) goalie. He served as president and captain of the Auburn lacrosse team. Additionally, he was twice named as the All-Southeastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) goalie.
In addition to working at Susquehanna, he has served on the coaching staffs at Auburn and Ohio, and he served for a year as a local development officer for the English Lacrosse Association in London. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
“I am very excited to be the inaugural Lacrosse coach at Hendrix,” Lichtig said. “I am thrilled about being a part of the first college varsity lacrosse program in Arkansas, and I look forward to the challenges that accompany this unique opportunity.”
