CONWAY, Ark. (May 11) -- The Hendrix College baseball team has been slated as the No. 6 seed in the West’s McMinnville, Oregon Regional, hosted by Linfield College as announced early this morning by the NCAA Division III Baseball Selection Committee. The Warriors will kick off the tournament against No. 1 seed Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday, May 13 at noon local time (2 p.m. in Arkansas).

Hendrix received its NCAA Regional site and seeding around 1 a.m. on Monday as the team gathered for a watch party at the Wellness and Athletic Center, just hours before it will fly to Oregon.

Hendrix earned its first ever NCAA Regional bid by taking the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference’s automatic qualifier on April 26 after defeating Trinity University for the program’s first conference championship.

The Warriors will join fellow SCAC member, 12th-ranked Millsaps College, in the field of 54 teams as the Majors picked up one of 13 Pool C at-large bids.  The Majors and Warriors become the fifth multiple selections from the SCAC in the league’s 17-year history.

Hendrix has seen what four out of their five regional opponents have to offer since the Warriors played Pomona-Pitzer, Texas-Tyler, Cal Lutheran and Chapman early in the season.

Hendrix dropped a 9-4 loss to Pomona-Pitzer on March 11 in Claremont, Calif. to end its 2009 spring break trip.  Warriors first year LF Nathan Harr and senior CF Daniel Ward both tagged home runs in the affair.
