Hendrix women ready for Race

RacefortheCureCONWAY, Ark. (Oct. 1, 2008) – A mixture of students, faculty, staff and friends of Hendrix will represent the college at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Little Rock on Oct. 11, an event that raises money annually for breast cancer prevention and research.

In all, 86 women from the Hendrix community will participate on the team – “Warriors for the Cure” – having already raised more than $1,300 on behalf of the team. Donations on behalf of the team are still being accepted on-line at this site.

Hendrix’s team captain is Laura Martin, the college’s associate vice president of enrollment and director of admission. Other team members include:

One in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime. The Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure raises money to fund education, screening and treatment programs for these women and thousands of others in our own community and supports the national search for a cure. The Komen Race for the Cure Series is the largest series of 5K run/walks in the world. Since its origination in Dallas in 1983, the Komen Race for the Cure Series has grown from one local race with 800 participants to an international series of 125 races with more than 1.3 million participants.
