The Biology Department of Hendrix College is seeking to hire a broadly trained
Organismal Biologist for a tenure track position to start in August 2014.
A successful applicant will teach the introductory level course for majors,
non-majors classes, and courses in the candidate’s specialty. The area of
specialty is open. The position is full-time teaching and the successful
candidate will teach two course lectures plus laboratories, or their
equivalent, each semester. While research is not a requirement for this
position, a research program involving undergraduates will be encouraged and
supported. A Ph.D. is required, but A.B.D. candidates will be considered.
Applications should include a cover letter addressing the candidate’s interest
in working in a demanding liberal arts environment, a teaching philosophy
statement, a curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation (including the
phone numbers and email addresses of the referees), and transcripts of all
graduate and undergraduate work. Applications from candidates with an interest
in participating in the common freshman course and other interdisciplinary
programs, and in using instructional technology where appropriate, will be
particularly welcome.
Review of applications will begin November
15, 2013. Application materials should be sent or emailed to: Dr. Mark
Sutherland, Hendrix College, 1600 Washington Avenue, Conway, AR 72032. Sutherlandmv@hendrix.edu
