CONWAY, Arkansas (March 17, 2023) — The Hendrix Dance Ensemble will present two performances of its Spring Concert March 31 and April 1, 2023, in Staples Auditorium (building 12 on the current campus map). Both performances begin at 7:30 p.m. There is no admission fee, and reservations are requested but not required. To learn more and make reservations, visit www.hendrix.edu/theatrearts.

Hendrix College Professor of Dance Brigitte Rogers is now in her 18th year of directing the Hendrix Dance Ensemble. Rogers worked closely with Becke Wilenski, this year’s guest artist, who conceived a spoken word piece for this concert. Created by the Dance Ensemble via the Rasaboxes “athlete of the emotions” training and experienced through Macbeth’s Tomorrow speech, the piece brings a new experience with each performance.

Wilenski has extensive voiceover, theatre, and film experience. She helped Richard Schechner (founder and original artistic director of The Performance Group later known as The Wooster Group) create the Rasa Boxes technique. Wilenski and Schechner have a longstanding collaborative relationship in the performing arts.

Other performance pieces feature choreography from faculty and students in varying styles, including contemporary, jazz, and tap.
