Communications Committee
This committee's charge is to help the College communicate the story of Hendrix to its constituents through college publications and the media. Committee members help keep the College aware of how the public perceives the College and alert staff members to issues of concern. This committee shall keep the Alumni Board members aware of how they can be social media ambassadors.
Development Committee
The Development Committee works with the development staff of the college to help plan ways to raise money from alumni and is involved in alumni class giving, deferred giving programs, and other efforts to bring gifts to the College. Committee members also help assure consistent giving by Alumni Board members as well as all alumni.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee shall be composed of the Alumni Board Officers, the College Officer of Alumni Engagement, and the chairpersons of all other committees. This committee shall meet at the discretion of the Alumni Board chair to strategically plan the business of the upcoming year. The committee does not set policy but handles matters that require action between Alumni Board meetings.
Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee’s charge is to nominate award recipients, including those for the Distinguished Alumni, the Hendrix Humanitarian Award, the James E. Major Service Award, the Outstanding Young Alumni Award, and any other awards the Alumni Board might choose to establish. Nominations are sent to the Office of Alumni & Constituent Engagement in the fall of each year. The full board will vote on the honorees.
This committee is also responsible for identifying potential new Alumni Board members. Nominations are solicited by the nominating committee chair from the current Board members. The committee chair shall meet with the Alumni Board chair and College Officer of Alumni Engagement with the list of names prior to the spring meeting. This committee shall recommend a slate of candidates and Alumni Board Officers listed in Article V to the full Alumni Board for election.
Events Committee
The Events Committee is responsible for providing input, suggestions, and evaluations for alumni programming, including Alumni Weekend and Alumni programs, and for participating in and encouraging participation in these activities. The committee also will assist in bringing issues concerning visibility and development before the full Alumni Board for discussion, as needed by the Advancement Office.
Student Engagement Committee
The Student Engagement Committee’s charge is to involve alumni in the institution, to assist in finding potential employment and internship sites for students and graduates, and to discuss with students their professions or job areas, either on campus or in their businesses. This committee will also explore ways to increase alumni engagement with Hendrix students.
Ad hoc
Ad hoc committees may be appointed by the Alumni Board chair for special purposes, which should not continue indefinitely but should terminate when the particular project is completed.
