III. Announcements and Constituent Concerns
- Derek: Does the Panera staff have access (key cards) to the village? NO!
IV. Departmental Liaison Reports
- We need new liaisons for:
- Cafeteria
- WAC
- Public Safety
- Physical Plant
- Library
- IT
- Responsibilities:
- Try to address the concern yourself, and if you cannot answer contact/meet with the respective faculty/staff member of that department, then bring answers back to the senate meeting/answer the constituent.
V. Committee Reports
- Financial Committee with Alexander Jones
- Aquarium Club: $970.40
- Seems to be more of a class based activity as opposed to a student activity/the proposal was sent in fairly late
- Exec recommends to reject funding
- Motion passed to reject funding
- Hendrix Hillel: $3820
- “Faux Bar Mitzvah” with the Maccabeats (April 30th, 10pm-12am)
- Exec recommends to fund in full
- Motion passed to fund in full (1 opposed, 3 abstentions)
- Will be about $50,000 in the account for the rest of the year/until about the third week into the fall 2012 semester (this includes $15,000 from the carryover fund)
- Committee on Everything Awesome:

- Red Brick Film Festival (Tuesday April 26th)
- CK weekend recap:
- Student arrested this weekend after confronting cops and then running away from them.

- Noise complaint from Conway just before 1am, because of this we may want to think about ending future outdoor events around 1am…

- Concerns from students about Miss Hendrix Tickets
- outselling tickets (capacity is 700)
- some students were under the impression that you would be guaranteed a ticket with a VIP pass (sorry for any miscommunication-only a free ticket, but you still had to stand in line)
- alumni were able to get tickets before students
- CK did try to limit, by only allowing individuals to buy 3 tickets at a time (previously unlimited)
- Also, did not think that MH would sell out (didn’t last year)—GOOD PROBLEM!
- $26,500 in cash! Better than previous years (usually ~$20,000 CASH)!
- $700 canned food
- $2000 donations in local businesses
- Donations will be distributed after spring break
- Social Committee with Will Phillips
- Drive in Movie Night April 16TH time TBA
- The Kings Speech, True Grit
- During alumni weekend (they are free to attend)
- No alcohol!
- Be careful guys, Conway will be starting random searches in non-campus areas….
- Look out for an opportunity to give feedback about SoCo events after spring break

- Check out the MANY new classes online
- Committee looked over AP/IB/Cambridge test scores transfer policy
- Internships
- requirement now down from 12 to 8 weeks
- Students with internships no longer have to meet weekly
- Revaluating testing policies for international students
- Because some lower classes are still problematic for foreign students, they will now take a placement test upon coming to HDX
- Reevaluating the Inclement Weather Policy
- Email LaRonda about any AP concerns (tell constituents)
- Will ask about search for new Chinese professor at the next meeting
- Student and Academic Concerns Committee with Emily and LaRonda
- SAC will be forming a new IT committee (testing new email systems/giving feedback/etc)
- Email Desh if you would like to be a part of this!
- Tell constituents that they can serve on this committee
- Communications Committee with Adelia Shiffraw
- I will send out notes within 24 hours of our meetings

- Will soon be open filing for Committee Chairs, then sub committee chairs
- Be on the lookout for an email from Gabe tonight/Tell constituents:
- Open Filing for Treasurer starts TODAY and closes March 29th
- For anyone who is good with numbers/etc.
- Senior Senator filing also starts Today and will close March 29th
- Campaigning soon after
- Will be introducing a new incentive for running for class representative
- reps will get first choice pick of housing for their class
- Executive Committee with Desh Deepak
- $15,000 rollover money from the Troubadour account needs to be spent
- (have spent ~$5,000 on new WAC outdoors equipment)
- current ideas include: Zip Car, senate sponsored sidewalk, laundry facilities
- there will be a Zip Car survey after break, it’s kind of expensive but it could work.
