Highlight quote

"Learn some computer programming -- it's a skill that's useful in academics and necessary in industry"

Current projects

I teach half-time and do research the other half of my time. Currently I am teaching calculus II and III, and I have two ongoing research projects in which I am collaborating with colleagues at Rice and Wesleyan Universities.

Undergraduate Research

Duff Campbell supervised me throughout two undergraduate research projects at Hendrix. The first project didn't really work out, but the second turned into my senior thesis. I also participated in a summer "REU" at Texas A&M University.

How Hendrix prepared me for success

In addition to doing research, I was involved in the help center at Hendrix. Doing these two activities as an undergrad helped me to find the right balance of these two activities in my current job.

Future plans

Eventually I would like to get a tenure-track professorship at a school where I can pursue my research interests while educating the next generation of mathematicians.

My advice

Don't be afraid to explore your mathematical interests outside of the Hendrix curriculum — whether it's math history or an advanced subject. Also, learn some computer programming — it's a skill that's useful in academics and necessary in industry.
