New Student Orientation is a unique program that allows first-year students to become familiar with Hendrix academic and student life through various events and programs. It’s an exciting week and one of the highlights of the Hendrix experience.
Here’s a quick look at some of our Welcome Week favorites:
- Playfair is a fun, fast-paced, ice-breaker where the entire first-year class gets to know each other in a hilariously fun environment. Playfair is always the highest rated activity of Orientation – besides the awesome trips.
- Pizzapalooza is a social event where local pizza vendors compete for the title of Hendrix favorite. Students love this event because there is music, dancing, and free pizza!
- Here at Homedrix, one of several entertaining awareness programs, is a series of skits performed by the Orientation team designed to portray what life is like on the Hendrix campus.
Orientation week is also when you’ll first meet with your academic advisor. Plus, you’ll get a chance to meet with your peers to ask questions about how to schedule classes and which classes you should take. On Thursday of Orientation week, you’ll meet one-on-one with your advisor to prepare for Registration Day, which is on the Monday before classes.
Of course, the best part of Orientation Week will be your Orientation Trip!
Don’t worry, the fun doesn’t stop there. Current students return to campus on Aug. 25, marking the kick-off of Welcome Week. The Welcome Week committee will be working with student organizations across campus to plan events for the entire campus to enjoy!.
Shirttails, a long-standing Hendrix tradition, is the culmination of Welcome Week.Shirttails is a dance competition between all first-year students living in the residence halls.
