CONWAY, Ark. (October 2,
2017) – The Hendrix College Office of Development recently welcomed Leighia
Hammond as Assistant Director of Annual Giving. She joined the Office of
Development on September 11.
Hammond brings more than a
decade of experience in higher education, and most recently served as assistant
registrar for technical and student support at the University of Central
Arkansas. Prior to relocating to Conway from Valdosta, Georgia with her husband,
Richard, and four children, Hammond served various roles in housing and
residence life at Valdosta State University, where she worked for 10 years. In
her work at Hendrix, she will focus on key programmatic elements of the
College’s annual giving program, and will lead efforts related to the student
phonathon and giving days.
“We are excited to have
Leighia join the development team and bring her experience in higher education,
knowledge of various software platforms, relationship-building skills, and her
excitement to the position,” said the Rev. J. Wayne Clark, Associate Vice
President of Development and Dean of the Chapel. “Leighia is a great addition
to the development office and to the greater Hendrix community.”
Hammond holds a Master of
Science with concentration in counselor education and student development from
Mississippi State University, and a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in
mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi.
“I am thrilled to join the
