CONWAY, Ark. (August 29, 2016) – Hendrix College will host “Flowers as Metaphor” from Thursday, Sept. 22 – Friday, Oct. 7.

The travelling group show was curated by Zeuxis, a grassroots organization formed in New York City in 1995 to explore the contemporary possibilities of still life painting. Zeuxis has organized over 50 exhibitions in museums, commercial galleries and other exhibition spaces. Reviews of Zeuxis exhibitions have appeared in The New York Times, The New York Sun, The Philadelphia Inquirer and numerous other publications.

This show demonstrates that the mundane and often painted subject of flowers can be used to produce very divers visual interpretations that lead to a wide range of moods and styles.

The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, opens with a talk by John Lee on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m., following by the opening reception, in Art Lobby A.

The Hendrix Art Building Gallery hours are 9 – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
