2014 – 2015 Orchestral & Chamber Music Events Announced

CONWAY, Ark. (August 29, 2014) – The Hendrix College Department of Music has announced the following orchestral and chamber music events for the 2014 – 2015 academic year:

Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra’s All Soul’s Day Concert

Monday, Nov. 3, 7:30 p.m., Greene Chapel

The Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra offers a program of reflective music to celebrate the lives of loved-ones living and passed. 

The Music of John Corigliano

Thursday, Nov. 6, 7:30 p.m., Staples Auditorium

Special Events and the Hendrix College Music Department present as part of his residency at Hendrix College, the music of Pulitzer, Grammy, and Oscar winning composer John Corigliano in a Prism Concert featuring performances by faculty, students, and the major ensembles. Hendrix College’s student musicians perform chamber music for winds, brass, percussion, strings, piano, and voice. 

Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra’s Thanksgiving Concert

The Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra’s end of fall semester concert is an opportunity to bring together family and friends with music, to inspire, to reflect, and give thanks for beauty, love, and joy in our lives. 

Waltz Night 2015

Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, 7:30 p.m., Location TBA

The Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra presents its annual charity ball, “Waltz Night” to benefit the Arkansas Youth Orchestra. The orchestra will be joined by dancers from the Ballroom Dance Class, Andrea Newsome instructor, and Ballet program, Brigette Rogers choreographer, at Hendrix College. Refreshments are provided and the audience is invited to dance.

The Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra presents its Spring Concert featuring the winner of the annual concerto and aria competition.
