Candlelight Carol Service 2012 Goes on the Road

CONWAY, Ark. (October 4, 2012) - The Hendrix College Choir, under the direction of Dr. Nancy Fleming, will present the 48th annual Candlelight Carol Service at Belle Meade United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tenn., on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and at Lakewood United Methodist Church in North Little Rock, Ark. on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Based on a traditional holiday service at King's College in Cambridge, England, Candlelight Carol Service tells the Christmas story through "Lessons and Carols," a series of nine Scripture lessons, each followed by appropriate music. This year's program includes Welcome Yule! (Parry), Adam Lay Ybounden (Warlock), Sicut locutus est from Magnificat (J.S. Bach), Es ist ein Ros' entsprungen (Cashmore/Praetorius), Nova! Nova! (Chilcott), Dormi, Jesu! (Sirett), Videntes stellam (Poulenc), Verbum caro factum est (Hassler), Love Came Down at Christmas (Sowerby), Chor der Engel from Christus am Oelberge (Beethoven), as well as Once in Royal David's City and other familiar hymns of the season.
