2011 Honors Convocation

Honors Day 2011Jayce Hafner and President J. Timothy Cloyd CONWAY, Ark. (April 28, 2011) – Senior Jayce Hafner was awarded the 2011 President’s Medal at a special Honors Day Convocation today in Staples Auditorium.

The President's Medal is presented each year to that student who best exemplifies the highest ideals of the College. Criteria include excellence in scholarship, outstanding citizenship, and service to the community.

Hafner is an International Relations and Sustainable Communities major from Edinburg, Va. She will graduate with distinction in International Relations. Hafner also received the Ian T. King Prize in International Relations and was one of two recipients of the 2011 Walker Odyssey Fellowship.

Awards were also presented to students for departmental academic honors, graduate distinction, campus service, and sportsmanship.

“On this day we celebrate the achievements of many members of the collegiate community that have merited special recognition. It is our goal to recognize excellence and high achievement in a wide variety of endeavors,” said Hendrix College President Dr. J. Timothy Cloyd. “The aims of the College include purposes pursued in the classroom, in the laboratory, in the residence halls, and on playing fields. The diverse awards given today will bear witness to the College's dedication to accomplishment across a broad spectrum of activity.”
