Other Types of Aid

Other types of aid include student employment, which provides pay for work on campus and includes Federal Work Study, and United Methodist Aid, which offers awards to students who are United Methodist.

Student Employment

Federal Work-Study

Eligibility: Federal Work-Study provides jobs for students with financial need so they may earn money to cover part of their educational expenses. Job opportunities are available on campus in various academic and administrative departments.

Campus or Off-campus Employment

Eligibility: Campus and off-campus jobs are open to all students without regard to financial need.

United Methodist Student Aid 

United Methodist Minister's Dependent Grant

Amount: 50 percent of tuition per year. Stacking policies apply. Check with the Office of Financial Aid for details.
Eligibility: Recipients must be a dependent of a Methodist minister under full-time appointment and have a letter from the District Superintendent forwarded to the Office of Financial Aid.

Ministerial Student Loan/Grant Program

Amount: 50 percent of tuition per year
Eligibility: Students preparing for ordained ministry in the United Methodist Church may qualify for a loan of half-tuition provided they meet certain criteria, including certification as a candidate for ministry in the United Methodist Church, and receive the approval of the financial aid committee. Once the student is ordained in the United Methodist Church and enters the full-time ministry, the loan will become a grant. Those students who later decide not to enter the ordained ministry in the United Methodist Church will be expected to repay the loan at six percent interest within five years after graduation.

United Methodist Student Loans

Amount: $5,000 maximum per year
Eligibility: Members of the United Methodist Church are eligible for low-interest loans of up to $5,000 per calendar year. The United Methodist Church General Board of Higher Education and Ministries determines the recipients.

United Methodist Student Scholarships

Eligibility: The United Methodist Church General Board of Higher Education and Ministries offers scholarships to students from various backgrounds. Applicants must be active members of the United Methodist Church and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above.

UMHEF Dollars for Scholars Program

Details
Amount: $1,000 maximum per year
Eligibility: The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation (UMHEF) offers a limited number of matching scholarships to United Methodist-related institutions. These scholarships offer $1,000 to students whose home churches provide a matching $1,000.
