The Higher Learning Commission is the regional accreditation agency to which Hendrix reports. The assurance and institutional improvement process of the Commission through the Open Pathway affords the College an opportunity to seriously examine its institutional goals, functions,
practices, and outcomes. In August 2009, the HLC continued our accreditation through the 2018-2019 academic year. The Self-Study Report and the HLC Team Report from 2009 are linked below.

The Open Pathway is one of three options institutions have for maintaining their accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission. It follows a 10-year cycle and is focused on quality assurance and institutional improvement. The Open Pathway is unique in that its improvement project,
the Quality Initiative, gives institutions the independence to pursue improvement projects that are geared toward their current needs and aspirations.
In
2018, the College’s first Quality Initiative was approved by the Higher
Learning Commission.  In 2020, the College was reaccredited until the next
comprehensive visit scheduled for the 2028-2929 academic year.
Office
of Academic Assessment
At
the end of the most recent accreditation cycle, the Office of Academic Affairs
created a new group to continue the work done during the preparation for the
recent visit.  The new group is led by David Sutherland, Associate Provost
and Professor of Mathematics, who has led academic assessment efforts since
2006.  Randall Peterson, Director of Institutional Research, contributes
data collection and analysis to the group.  Two faculty members who
directed the recent assurance process have been appointed to new terms as
Co-coordinators of Assessment.  Those faculty are Megan Leonard, Associate
Professor of Economics, and Sasha Pfau, Associate Professor of History.
