Print Quota and Conservation

Students may print up to 2500 pieces of paper (1250 2-sided) per year.

Most people have to work pretty hard to print that much, and no, we don't encourage you to print that much.

The annual cost for running printing over the Hendrix Network (e.g., paper and toner costs) runs several thousand dollars. Printing quotas have helped to defray this cost and acts as a conservational function as well. Without quotas, there is a higher level of draft or "junk" printing; this leads to a higher consumption of paper and thus waste. By enacting a quota, Hendrix has a lower level of paper thrown away and/or recycled and fewer waste containers to ship back which helps to reduce the environmental impact.

What You Can Do To Help

Think twice before you print.

Ask yourself "Is this something I need to print, or can I do edits using the marking tools found in Adobe Reader and Word?"

Do I really need to print this email, or is this something I can store on the server in a folder for later retrieval?

Finally, read over your document one last time before you hit the print button looking for any typos.
