The mission of the Chinese program is to provide students
opportunities to acquire language proficiency, cultural awareness and critical
thinking skills so that they can be global citizens and succeed in various
professions in the US and abroad. To achieve this goal, the Chinese program
will educate students and enable them to:
- Communicate effectively in Chinese, oral and
written
- Understand the rich and different cultures of China
so that they are more culturally aware and ready to be global citizens
- Critically analyze different types of Chinese
literary texts (in English) within their own cultural, social and political
contexts
