LBST 105

First-Year Foundations

The First-Year Foundations course is a full-credit course for all new students at Hendrix. The course builds a strong foundation for personal, academic, and professional growth by exploring the resources and values that shape life at Hendrix, communicating through classroom discussions and written assignments, developing strategies for academic success, and thinking about their long-term goals and interests. These aims are accomplished through readings and conversation, reflective and collaborative activities, and active engagement across our diverse campus community. This course is led by faculty or staff members and is supported by peer mentors.

LBST 201

Strategies for Student Success

This course provides students with strategies for personal and academic success. The course focuses on fostering skills related to time management, learning techniques, note-taking skills, stress management, goal setting, and community building.

LBST 495

Senior-Year Experience

The Senior-Year Experience is a 0.25-credit common course required of all students during their senior year. This course helps students integrate their liberal arts experience and prepares them for their transition to life after college. Across all sections of this course, students examine, reflect upon, and synthesize their academic and co-curricular experiences at Hendrix, helping them to identify and articulate their strengths and skills. The remaining course content focuses on building additional skills or preparing materials personally relevant to students to help launch them into the next phase of their lives. Prerequisite: Senior standing
