CONWAY, Ark. (October 11, 2018) – The Project Pericles Student
Choices - Student Voices Task Force on Monday, October 29 will present “Know
Your Ballot,” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Lecture Hall A of the Mills Center for
Social Sciences. All students and community members are invited to attend this
event as they prepare to cast informed votes on November 6.
Dean of Students Jim Wiltgen, the sheriff of the voting site
located on the Hendrix College campus, will inform all voters, many of them
first-time voters, about the newly revamped voting process. Dr. Jay Barth, the M.E.
and Ima Graves Peace Distinguished Professor of Politics and director of the
Odyssey Program, will provide an overview of the measures on the Arkansas
ballot and present the arguments put forward by proponents and opponents of
each of them.
In addition to these presentations, candidates for local office
(state legislature, county, and city officials) have been asked to give three-minute
introductions. These candidates have been invited to stay for a meet-and-greet session
