CONWAY, Ark. (November 1,
2017) – The Hendrix College Wind Ensemble on Monday, November 13, 2017 will present
its Fall Concert, “A Night at the Movies.” The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
in Staples Auditorium.
Conducted by Hendrix
Director of Bands Dr. Gretchen Renshaw James, the Wind Ensemble will perform a
collection of music that has been used in movies or has been written
specifically for movies. In addition, Film Studies students and members of the
Wind Ensemble will present information about each of the pieces and their
movies, and will also tie in multimedia presentations with the music being performed.
The program includes the following pieces:

Fučík: Entry of the Gladiators (from Big
Fish)
- Percy
Grainger: Irish Tune from County Derry (from Brassed Off) - featuring members of the Natural State Brass Band
- Ludwig
van Beethoven: Allegretto from Symphony No. 7 (from Immortal Beloved)

Stravinsky: Berceuse and Finale from The Firebird (from Fantasia 2000)
- Arr.
Stephen Bulla: Bond...James Bond
- Howard
Shore: Symphonic Suite from The
Fellowship of the Ring
- John
Williams: Symphonic Suite from Star Wars:
The Force Awakens
In addition to the above
program, the Percussion Ensemble will give a pre-concert performance at 7:15
p.m. in the Staples Auditorium lobby.
