CONWAY, Ark. (October 6,
2017) – Paintings by Roxanne Everett and sculptures by Maria
Michaelson will soon go
on display in Hendrix College Art Department’s Building A Gallery. The opening
reception will be held Thursday, October 19, from 4 to 5 p.m.
Both artists are at
relatively early stages in their art careers. Everett has been an architect, a
backcountry wilderness ranger and most recently, a painter. She divides her
time between Seattle and Stehekin, Washington. Many of her paintings come from
a recent residency in Iceland.
Michaelson builds ceramics
sculptures and cast bronze sculptures in a studio on San Juan Island, Washington.
Exhibits of her life-size ceramic figures have appeared in museums and
galleries across the nation.
Exhibition dates are Monday,
October 16 through Friday, November 10, 2017. To learn more, contact Professor
Erik Maakestad at 501-450-1264 or maakestad@hendrix.edu.
