CONWAY, Ark. (March 14, 2017) – Hendrix College radio station
KHDX-FM 93.1 is a
charter member of the newly formed Arkansas College Radio Association (ArkCRA),
a support and resource network of collegiate radio stations in Arkansas.
“The future of college radio in Arkansas looks bright,” said
KHDX Technical Director Jacob Turner ’19, ArkCRA President. “We are very
excited to have started a state-level organization that is the first of its
kind in the nation for bringing college radio stations together to support and
assist each other in our development and operations, as well as working to
assist other colleges in starting their own stations.”
“One of our hopes is that
the ArkCRA will help provide stability and support to student-run radio
operations, which can struggle sometimes because of staff turnover,” said
Hendrix biology professor and KHDX advisor Dr. Maureen McClung. “Charter
stations include well-established organizations and those that are just
starting out, so the ArkCRA presents many opportunities for collaboration.”
“The energy behind this
organization is incredible, and true to college radio, it is completely
student-driven,” McClung added.
KHDX members joined their peers from KUOZ from the University
of the Ozarks, KXUA from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and
NUMediA from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith for an inaugural meeting
last month at Hendrix.
Other charter ArkCRA members include KVHU from Harding
University, KWEM from Arkansas State University Mid-South, and Red Wolf Radio
from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
